about

Hello…I am the Mediocre Mommy.  I am a thirtysomething, married stay-at-home mom.  I ended up with the family I always wanted but it certainly wasn’t the path I thought I would travel to get there.

After almost three years of peeing on sticks, taking drugs and showing my lady business to half the doctors in the state a top-notch fertility specialist told me “I’m sorry, but I just don’t think there is any chance you will ever get pregnant”.

We mourned our loss, met with a lawyer and five months later adopted the most wonderful little boy that ever lived. We were thrilled beyond words.

When he was three months old I found out I was pregnant.

Clearly this came as a big, fat, shut-your-dirty-mouth surprise.

Three weeks to the day after our sweet boy’s first birthday his adorable little sister joined the family.

Parenting is absolutely, positively nothing like I thought it would be but I love those kids more than anything.

Before my children were born I had a sure vision of how I was going to be the greatest mother that ever lived…now I’m just hoping their grown-up insurance covers therapy.

   Average is the new awesome.
