Remember Perler Beads? I don’t even know if they make them anymore…This is my childhood set (can’t you tell by the awesome 70’s Tupperware the beads are in?)

Basically, you put the beads on these little spiky trays, cover them with parchment paper and iron on the linen setting until they start to look a little melty. Never mind the toxic plastic fumes…it’s part of the fun.

After they cool you peel them off and voila!, you have a weird little plastic thing that got you high and serves no purpose.

Just kidding. The kids think they are awesome. One has been deemed a coaster and the others got magnets on the back for the fridge.

I used to play with this for hours. Mostly because I was a weird only child with an imaginary pet flea…so I had quite a bit of time to myself.

  1. dollywantacracker said: We leave a hole near the top and hang them with fishing line in the kitchen window sorta like suncatchers. I can’t wait until mine are old enough to do this.
